HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-24-60 Council Meeting MinutesBe it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the Council Chambers,-'Monday, October 24, 1960, at 7:53 P.M., with all members present except Councilman Lehman. The meeting was called to order by President Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Tellson, Coleman, Glass, Krueper and Muszynski. ABSENT: Councilman Lehman. REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have examined the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend that the same be approved. Joseph T. REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY To the Common Council October 17, 1960 City of South Bend RE: Your Directive of October 13, 1960 Gentlemen: With reference to the petition by Councilman Lehman, signed by 51 property owners to improve Caroline Street from Bowman and Donald to Fix Street by the erection of Stop or Yield Signs, this matter was brought before the Board of Public Works and Safety at its regular meeting of October 17, 1960. After examination, the petition was referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and report. Respectfully submitted, /s/ Anthony J. Sabo Anthony J. REPORT OF TRAFFIC ENGINEER Members of South Bend Common Council City Hall South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: October 24, 1960 RE: Petition for traffic control at Caroline Street at its intersection with Bowman, Donald and Fix Streets At the last regular session of the South Bend Common Council on October 10, 1960, a petition was presented for installation of traffic control signs at the above mentioned interesections. Upon instructions from the Board of Public Works and Safety, to whom the petition was forwarded, this department investigated and recommended signs be placed to correct the situation. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNO14N AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, (Real estate involved located on Portage Avenue -- -700 Block), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE set over until November 28, 1960. REGULAR MEETING REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: 260 OCTOBER 24, 1960 Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, AS HERETOFORE AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED (2806 Linoolnway West), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE continued until November 14, 1960. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, (Section 4 -A), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (Section 10 and Section 11), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED favorable.as amended. ORDINANCE NO. 4342 - - -60 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Lehman). ORDINANCE NO. 4343 - - -60 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS AMENDED. The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Lehman). ORDINANCE NO. 4344 - - -60 AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE OFFICE OF THE CONTROLLER IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,106.92 FOR THE YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1960 The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Lehman). r266 REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 24, 1960 ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK IN THE AMOUNT OF $750.00 The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on November 14, 1960. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Muszynski made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion.
