HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-01-60 Council Special Meeting MinutesBe it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the Council Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, August 1, 1960, at 8:07 P.M., with President Joseph T. Kroll presiding. The Clerk then read the call for a Special Meeting. STATE OF INDIANA ) ) SS: CITY OF SOUTH BEND ) CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING To the President and Members of the Common Council of the City.of South Bend, Indiana: Gentlemen: You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law as Mayor of the City of South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a Special Meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to meet in.the Council Chamber, in the City Hall at the hour of 8:00 P.M., on Monday, August 1, 1960, for the purpose of considering the following ordinances, to -wit: Ij AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF ALL BUDGET - OPERATED DEPARTMENTS OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1961, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1961, INCLUDING DEPARTMENTS, FUNDS AND COMMISSIONS FOR WHICH MONEY IS APPROPRIATED, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM FUNDS OTHER THAN THE GENERAL FUNDS, OF SAID CITY TO -WIT: STREET, TRAFFIC AND PARK DEPARTMENTS, FIREMEN'S PENSION AND POLICEMEN'S PENSION FUNDS, AND THE CITY PLAN AND URBAN REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSIONS, THE SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY BUILDING AUTHORITY AND BUILDING DEMOLITION, REPAIR AND CONTINGENT FUNDS: PROVIDING THAT SUCH APPROPRIATIONS SHALL INCLUDE ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS: FIXING THE SALARIES OF ALL CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH: PROVIDING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT. ALSO AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1961 FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special Meeting. Glass /s/ Sgt. --gler Member of the South Bend Police Department Councilman Lehman made a motion that the Special Call be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Tellson, Coleman, Glass, Krueper, Lehman and Muszynski. Councilman Lehman made a motion that the Ordinance be set for Public Hearing on August 29, 1960, and that there by legal publication in the Record and the South Bend Tribune on the 5th and 12th days of August, 1960. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carri SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 1, 1960 ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1961 FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 231 The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Coleman made a motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on August 8, 1960, and that there be legal publication in the Record and the South Bend Tribune on the 5th and 12th days of August, 1960. Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Lehman made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Krueper seconded the motion. Motion carried and the Special Meeting of the Common Council adjourned at 8:52 P.M. ATTEST: CLERK APPROVED:
