HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/24/13 Special Meeting Board of Public Safety MinutesEXECUTIVE SESSION JUNE 24, 2013 54 The Board of Public Safety met in the Executive Session on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. The meeting was held in the Board of Works Conference Room, 13th Floor, County City Building, South Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in T.C. 5- 14- 1.5- 6.1(b)(6)(A) regarding Disciplinary Action. Board President Patrick Cottrell and Board Members John Collins and Luther Taylor were present. Board Members Laura Vasquez and Eddie Miller were absent. Also present was Attorney Andrea Beachkofsky. Board members did not discuss any subject matter other than the subject matter as specified in the Public Notice. The meeting adjourned at 8:23 a.m. SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 24 2013 The Board of Public Safety met in a Special Meeting at 8:25 a.m, on Monday, June 24, 2013 with Board President Patrick D. Cottrell and Board Members John Collins and Luther Taylor present. Board Members Laura Vasquez and Eddie Miller were absent. Also present was Board Attorney Andrea Beachkofsky. The meeting was held in the Boardroom, 13th Floor, County City Building, 227 West Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, Indiana. POLICE DEPARTMENT SET DATE FOR CONTINUATION OF HEARING OF CHARGES NO. 2013-01 — THEODORE ROBERT Upon a motion by Mr. Collins, seconded by Mr. Taylor and carried, the Board set the date for the continuation of the Hearing of Charges No. 2013 -0I, for Theodore Robert, for Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the South Bend Police Station Auditorium, 701 W. Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, President Cottrell stated this would be the second date; at their previous meeting, the Board set July 16, 2013 for the first date for the continuation of the Hearing. APPROVE PETITION TO INDIANA STATE POLICE FOR ADMINISTRATIVE INVESTIGATION REGARDING COMPLAINT AGAINST POLICE CHIEF RONALD TEACHMAN Upon a motion by Mr. Collins, seconded by Mr. Taylor and carried, the Board approved apetition to the Indiana State Police for an administrative investigation regarding a citizen complaint against Police Chief Ronald Teachman. TABLE - SET DATE FOR SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY REGARDING THE TOWING RESOLUTION President Cottrell stated the Board would Table the setting of the date for a Special Meeting to address the Towing Resolution until their next Regular Meeting. Ms. Beachkofsky stated she would contact the Towing Companies before then and find out their availability and asked if the Board would need any additional information from them. Mr. Cottrell requested they supply factual information to the Board on the impact on their businesses if the Board decides to stay with five (5) towing companies.
