The meeting was called to order by. President Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Tellson, Coleman, Glass, Krueper, Lehman and Muszynski. ABSENT: None. MINUTES: Report of Committee on Minutes: To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS Report of City En&ineer MEMO TO: Mrs. Freda Noble, City Clerk January 25, 1960 SUBJECT: Report to the Common Council regarding Railroad Crossings I have had two meetings with officials of the Railroad Companuies, namely, Wabash and N.J. I and I and the Grand Trunk, -recently and the latter part of 1959 with the local officials of the New York Central. They all agreed that as soon as the weather permits a number of their crossings will need attention. At this time I still do not know of any remedy for the difficulty at the Twyckenham crossing. /s/ R. S. Andrysiak R. S. Report of Traffic En &ineer Members of South Bend City Council City Hall South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: January 25, 1960 On January 11, 1960 at the regular City of South Bend Council meeting a request was made by Councilman Mus ski that I appear before you on January 25th to explain the procedure necessary to obtain a traffic signal at the intersection of Mayflower Road (SR 123) and Sample Street (SR 223). RESOLUTION Councilman Allen proposed the following Resolution: WHEREAS, on February 8, 1960, the Boy Scouts of this area will observe "Scouts in Government Day "; and; WHEREAS, we owe an obligation to the youth of our Community to encourage them to become responsible adult citizens, one of the duties of which responsible citizenship is an intelligent interest in government; and, WHEREAS, on February 8, 1950, certain designated Scouts will assume the duties of the various offices of City government; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council that the Tri- Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America be and they are assured of the fullest cooperation of the Common Council in the observance of "Scouts in Government Day" on .February 8, 1960.
