Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole, on
Monday, January 25, 1960, with all members present. The meeting was. called to order by Councilman Lehman, Chairman,
who presided.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS (IRELAND AND MIAMI - -- 119.22 acres)
Public hearing was had on the above Ordinance. Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on
this Ordinance.
Speaking for the Proposed Ordinance were the following: Andrew Place, 2801 Privet Lane; Raymond S. Andrysiak, City
Engineer, who explained sewer provisions, etc.
Speaking against the Proposed Ordinance was -the following: Charles Evans, 19770 East Kern Road, President of Hoosier
Suburbia.
Councilman Coleman made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ZONEING ORDINANCE NO. 3702
(Ironwood Road North)
Public Hearing was had on the above Ordinance. Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on
this Ordinance.
Speaking for the Proposed Ordinance was Nicholas P. Cholis, Attorney for petitioner.
Speaking against the Proposed Ordinance were the following: Joseph T. Helling, Attorney for the remonstrators;
Kenneth Kuespert, 1116 North Ironwood; Dorothy Jaffe, 1105 N. Ironwood; Ruth Steinberg, 1323 N. Ironwood;.Meyer
Steinberg, 1323 N. Ironwood; Orville P. Burkett, 2016 Oak Park Drive;. John Hoffman, 1817 Oak Park Drive; Wm.
Montine, 1222 N. Ironwood.
Councilman Krueper stated that as Councilman from the Fourth District he was opposed to the rezoning of this property.
Mr. Cholis spoke in rebuttal.

Mr. Steinberg spoke in counter - rebuttal.
Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Kroll seconded the
motion, Motion carried.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN BOARD OF HEALTH $2,500.00;
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT $100.00, AND CITY CLERK $14,539.00
Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard'on this Ordinance. Councilman Muszynski made a motion
that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING ALL PARKING METER FEES AND FUNDS TO THE BOARD OF
PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE
USES AND PURPOSES SET FORTH THEREIN IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 236 OF THE
ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF INDIANA OF 1945, AS AMENDED BY
CHAPTER 303 OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 1951.
Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this Ordinance. Councilman Kroll made a motion
that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Ladewski'seconded the motion. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM $57,830.00
Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this Ordinance. Councilman Kroll made a motion
that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING IN THE 1959 GENERAL STREET IMPROVEMENT FUND THE SUM
OF $52,947.66
Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the public hearing heretofore set for this date on this Ordinance be held
on February 8, 1960. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Kroll made a motion to adjourn.
Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried and the Committee of the Whole Meeting adjourned at 9:38 P.M.
