HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-22-59 Council Committee of the Whole Meeting Minutes117 COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING REGULAR MEETING JUNE 22, 1959 COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole in the Council Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, June 22, 1959, at 8 :05 P.M., with all members present except Councilman Korpal. The meeting was called to order by Councilman Joseph T. Kroll, Chairman, who presided. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF'SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (Lincolnway East between Twyckenham and Caroline) Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this ordinance. Speaking against the proposed Ordinance were the following: Charles Taylor, 1352 Lincolnway East; Lee Widener, 1617 Caroline Street; L. J. Craig, 1621 Caroline Street; Earl Lindsey, 1618 Twyckenham Drive; Paul Marsh, 1622 Caroline Street; Lola Wymap, 1615 Caroline Street. Speaking in favor of the proposed Ordinance were the following: Mr. Robert Zimmerman, Attorney for the petitioners; and Hildred Kuhn, 1512 Lincolnway East. Councilman Christman made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as unfavorable. Councilman Erhardt seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING FROM OFFICE OF THE BOARD GENERAL FUND ACCOUNT H -58 CONTINGENCIES TO ACCOUNT H -725 OFFICE EQUIPMENT $200.00; FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT GENERAL FUND ACCOUNT Q -11 SERVICES PERSONAL $3,100.00 TO ACCOUNT Q -262 MEDICAL, SURGICAL AND DENTAL $600.00 AND TO ACCOUNT Q -321 FUEL, OIL AND COAL $2,500.00; FROM ACCOUNT Q -711 FIXED EQUIPMENT TO ACCOUNT Q -726 OTHER EQUIPMENT (DISTRIBUTORSCOPE) $500.00; AND FROM BUILDING DEPARTMENT GENERAL FUND TO ACCOUNT MB -724 MOTOR EQUIPMENT $1,800.00; AND FROM TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT STREET AND TRAFFIC FUND TO ACCOUNT T -343 MEDICAL, SURGICAL AND DENTAL $700.00; ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE YEAR 1959 OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND DECLARINGAN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY. Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this Ordinance. Miss Virginia Guthrie, Executive Secretary of the South Bend Civic Planning Association, was heard. Councilman Hahn made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried. f There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion.
