HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-13-59 Council Committee of the Whole Meeting MinutesREGULAR MEETING COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING APRIL 13, 1959 COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING: Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, April 13, 1959, at 8 :01 P.M., with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. ORDINANCE AN'ORDINANCE FOR THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (Clay Township) Sul Mr. Raymond Andrysiak, City Engineer, explained the area to be annexed in the proposed Ordinance. He spoke in favor of the passage of the Ordinance and explained his reasons why he favored annexation. He explained the sewage plans and water to be furnished. Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this Ordinance. The following were heard stating their objections to the annexation: Mr. Charles E. Evans, 19770 East Kern Road, Mr. Joseph Puca, 17380 Wilshire Drive Mr. Robert K. Rodibaugh, 3214 Springbrook Drive Mr. 0. E. Carter Mr. John Galvas, 54710 Northern Avenue Mrs. Joseph Stratigos, 17788 State Road #23 Mrs. Pauline Ferm, 54297 Maple Lane Mrs. Louis Taylor, 17862 State Road 23 Mr. Edward I. Larson, 17037 E. Bulla James Brattina, 54776 28th Street Morris Hoffman, 2610 S. Twyckenham Drive Mr: B: Stutsman, 54095 Terrace Lane Mr. R. E. Smith, 54691 N. 27th Street President of Iioosier Suburbia Attorney for the Clay Township Action Committee 17523 Hepler Drive President, Maple Lane P.T.A. Read a letter from Dr. How, St. Joseph County Health Officer President, P.T.A. Speaking in favor of the annexation was Mr. Earl Kime, Manager of the Portage Realty Corporation, 1019 South Michigan. In Rebuttal the following were heard: Iir. 0. E. Carter Mr. Charles Evans Mr. M. W. Elkins, 17415 i cErlain Street Councilman Korpal made a motion that the Ordinance be kept in the Committee of the Whole for further study and the time of the next public hearing will be legally advertised. Councilman Christman seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Korpal made a motion to adjourn.
