OCTOBER 27, 1958
Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council Chambers in the
City Hall, in Regular session on Monday, October 27, 1958, at 8 :53 P.M., with all members present except Councilmen
Carr and Muszynski. The meeting was called to order by President Stanley C. Korpal, who presided.
ROLL CALL
I PRESENT: Councilmen °Korpal, Tellson, Christman, Kroll, Glass, Hahn and Erler.
ABSENT: Councilmen Carr. and Muszynski.
REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES:
To the Common Council of the City of South Bend:
Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected
the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend that the same
be approved.

Councilman Kroll made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Christman seconded the
motion. Motion carried.
PETITION
Petition of Edward Buszkiewicz and Virginia Buszkiewicz to rezone Lot 2 in Wooded Estates (Ironwood Road).
Councilman Hahn made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Planning Commission. Councilman Kroll
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
PETITION
Petition bearing about fifty signatures of residents in the vicinity of 2214 West Dunham Street, asking the Council
to withdraw and permanently refuse to give a license to the Bremen Iron and Metal Company because of violations
of the City Ordinance, i.e., nuisance, heavy machinery, truck traffic.
Councilman Kroll made a motion that the petition be referred to the grievance committee for study. Councilman
Erler seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Councilman Hahn made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion.

RE: Councilman Tellson's motion for a study of all
concrete islands for reflectorization of same
Gentlemen:
In the near future a complete and thorough survey of all Traffic Engineering installations in the City will be made.
This study will result in replacement and modernization of signs, signals, et.
Included in this study will be the information desired as stated in Mr. Tellson's motion of September 22, 1958.
Action will follow upon completion of the study.

ISSUANCE AND SALE OF BONDS OF SAID CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS TO BE APPLIED TO THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION,
RE- CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF STREETS, AND EXPENSES INCURRED IN CONNNECTION THEREWITH, AS AMENDED.
Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE.

AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FROM THE GENERAL FUND $100.00 TO OFFICE OF CITY

ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FROM THE GENERAL FUND $2,500.00 TO HEALTH DEPARTMENT
ACCOUNT NO. W -264 - AGED AND AGING HEALTH PROGRAM, ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE
CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR 1958 AND DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY
EMERGENCY.
The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Kroll made a motion that the
Ordinance be set for Public Hearing on November 10, 1958. Councilman Erler seconded the motion. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Hahn made a motion that the Board of Public Works and Safety purchase two new chairs for the Clerks in the
Council Chambers. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Tellson
seconded the motion. Motion carried and the Regular Meeting of the Common Council adjourned at 9:21 P.M.
