COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING:
Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole on
Monday, August 11, 1958 at 8 :03 p.m., with all members present excepting Councilman Carr. Councilman Hahn, acting
Chairman, called the meeting to order and presided.
ORDINANCE:
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF, SOUTH BEND
INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS
Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this ordinance. Councilman Korpal made a motion
that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE:
AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT P -11 PERSONAL SERVICES
THE SUM OF $5,700.00 TO POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT P -214 TELEPHONE AND TELEPGRAPH
$1,000.00; TO POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT P -331 GASOLINE $4,000.00; TO POLICE
DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT P -332 OIL $700.00; AND FROM CONTROLLER/'S OFFICE GENERAL FUND
THE SUM OF $2,500.00 TO CONTROLLER's OFFICE ACCOUNT B -59, SOCIAL SECURITY $2,500.00
ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE YEAR 1958 OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND
DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY.
Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this ordinance. Councilman Kroll made a motion
that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Hotion carried.
ORDINANCE:
AN ORDINANCE PROTECTING THE PUBLIC HEALTH, PROVIDING FOR THE CUTTING OF WEEDS
AND DISPOSAL THEREOF, INCLUDING NUISANCES AND PROVIDING FO1k THEIR ABATEMENT
AND MATTERS RELATING THERETO.
Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard on this ordinance. Councilman Korpal made a motion
that the ordinance should be amended as follows: "Wherever the ordinance mentions weeds, grass, or .deleterious
unhealthful growths, there shall be added thereto 'over 12 inches high. "' Councilman Kroll seconded the motion to
amend the ordinance. Motion carried. Councilman Korpal moved that the ordinance go to the Council favorable, as
amended. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Christman made a motion to adjourn.
Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried and the Committee of the Whole meeting adjourned at 8 :11 p.m.
