• Per Chapter 18 Article 3 of the South Bend Municipal Code, the maintenance and repair of curb and sidewalk is the responsibility of the property owner • Two programs are available to help: o Curb and Sidewalk Reimbursement Program ■ Any property owner in the City is eligible for partial reimbursement of sidewalk or curb repair ■ Applications open for 2026 o Council Allocation Program ■ Eligible properties are low-income, poor condition, existing, residential sidewalk or curb City of South Bend Public Works

Wait for pre-approval City will complete a pre-construction inspection of the project and provide pre-approval within five business days of receiving an application Permits Instruct the contractor to get a needed permits from City Engineering Office. Construction Once work is completed, email proof of payment along with copy of pre-approval to PWPrograms@southbendin.gov by Nov 6, 2026 Reimbursement City completes post-construction inspection at the property.
