Our community is deeply saddened by the devasting fire that has caused severe damage to one of our historic churches located in the third (3rd) district. The building has been declared inhabitable, and the congregation has suffered a tremendous loss of both place of worship and cherished community landmark. During this difficult time, we ask our community to come together in support of those affected. Immediate need includes donations of food and clothes and other essential items to assist members of the church family as they recover from this tragedy. Unfortunately, due to the incident, some church resources, such as the Project Love Program, have been suspended until further notice. Those who would like to provide financial assistance are encouraged to contact Maranatha Fellowship Ministries by phone at 574-347-2594 or by email at maranatha1406@yahoo.com. On behalf of the South Bend Common Council, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our firefighters, first responders, and all those who have already stepped forward to offer support. ###
