HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-08-81 Council Special Meeting MinutesSPECIAL MEETING MAY 8, 1981 TO: MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL SUBJECT: CALL FOR A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL The Mayor is calling a special meeting of the South Bend Common Council to be held on Friday, May 8, 1981, at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of the County -City Building. The purpose of the special meeting is to have first reading and to set May 18, 1981 as the date for the public hearing, second reading and vote as to the passage of an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES AN WAGES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR OF 1982. /s/ Roger 0. Parent for 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 1981. My notification was made by telephoning before 4:30 p.m. on May 5, 1981, the following Council members: JOSEPH SERGE BEVERLIE BECK ROBERT G. TAYLOR BEVERLY D. CRONE RICHARD C. DOMBROWSKI an by instructing that an inspector from the Neighborhood Code Enforcement office leave a certified copy thereof at the last and usual place of residence of the above Council members and the follwing Council members: WALTER M. SZYMKOWIAK LEWIS MCGANN JOHN VOORDE SPECIAL MEETING _ 111 AY 8 1981 I was informed by Council President Lewis McGann that Council members Szymkowiak, McGann and Voorde received direct verbal notice of the calling of the special meeting from Mayor Roger O. Gammon, City Clerk BY:Mary Ann Ryback Mary Ann Ryback, Deputy City Clerk .Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in Special Session, in the Council Chambers of the County -City Building on Friday May 8, 1981, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting was caled to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Serge, Szymkowiak, Beck, Taylor, Crone, Dombrowski, Voorde and McGann Absent: None Joseph Kernan, City Controller, indicated that the purpose of this meeting was to introduce for first reading the salary bill, as amended, and agreed upon. Council Member Beck made a motion to correct the bill no. to 45 -81, seconded by Coun- cil Member Taylor. The motion carried. BILL NO. 45 -81 A BILL FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES AND WAGES OF APPOINTED OF- FICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR OF 1982. This bill had first reading. Council Member Beck made a motion to set the bill for public hearing and second reading May 18, 1981, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. Council Member Voorde made a motion to refer the bill to the Personnel and Finance Committee, seconded by Council Member Beck. The motion car- ried. There being no further business to come before the Council, Council Member Beck made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Council MembYAPPOVED: de.
