A SPECIAL RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE
LAFAYETTE FALLS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Of)Cava, Lafayette Falls is a residential subdivision located on the south side of South Bend,
Indiana, known for its blend of suburban comfort and natural features like a central pond and
waterfall. It is situated near the US 31/20 Bypass, providing easy access to regional shopping and
dining; and
on March 11, 2026, the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association held its Inaugural
Meeting, in which over thirty (30) people were in attendance, to celebrate this grand event; and
during its Inaugural Meeting, the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association voted the
following residents as its board officers - Mrs. Alisa Bahr, President; Mrs. Valerie Weis, Vice
President; Mr. Austin Vega, Treasurer; Dr. Rashad L. Minor, Secretary; and Mr. Thomas
Ferguson, General Home Owners Association (HOA) Liaison; and
Ofiereaef, the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association will now have an HOA Liaison to address
the ideas, the concerns, and the activities of the numerous home owners associations which are
found within the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood to endeavor their desire to have an increased
togetherness in addressing their community needs and goals; and
the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association will now have representation on the City
of South Bend's Neighborhoods Consortium (NC): A collective of representatives from active
neighborhood and business associations that collaborate with City administration; and
the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association will continue to address its neighborhood's
single point of entry/exit concerns that are impacting the neighborhood: The neighborhood
currently has only one official entrance and exit from Kern Road. Residents are concerned that
this is inadequate for safety and emergency medical access, especially after a serious motorcycle
crash at the entrance temporarily blocked all residents from leaving or entering the subdivisions;
and
the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association will continue to advocate for internal safety
issues pertaining to frequent speeding and drivers ignoring stop signs within the subdivision and
to construction traffic which has residents concerned about the "added burden" of heavy
construction vehicles sharing their only access road; and
G' the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association is grateful that the City of South Bend has
promised to construct a blister turning lane on Kern Road to improve traffic flow, with construction
expected to start in the summer of 2026; and
6-Aaard, the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association is thankful that the City of South Bend has
Increased Law Enforcement: In response to safety complaints from the neighbors, the South Bend
Police Department increased patrols, which resulted in dozens of traffic stops in the area; and
the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association is thankful that a dedicated construction
access will be built to address construction traffic, an access road will be cleared specifically for
building vehicles to limit their impact on residential streets; and
Gffestw4 the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association remains hopeful that a dedicated second
(2'') permanent entrance/exit will be built in the near future to better address their traffic concerns
in their neighborhood.

(and. On behalf of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, we are pleased to recognize
and celebrate the establishment of the Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association and its board
leadership team.
64tooll. The City of South Bend acknowledges the dedication of the residents of the Lafayette
Falls Neighborhood Association as they work to promote safety, to enhance the quality of life for
its residents, and to plan and to develop initiatives which promote the well-being of the Lafayette
Falls Neighborhood.
Weetion III. The South Bend Common Council resolves to encourage the Lafayette Falls
Neighborhood Association to continue its outstanding neighborly service and to promote the uplift
of the residents of Lafayette Falls Neighborhood Association, and the City of South Bend's
surrounding areas.
an IV. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage by the South Bend
Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
