Passed, as amended, October 23, 1978. KEVIN J. BUTLER ATTORNEY AT LAW ST. JOSEPH BANK BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 September 20, 1978 South Bend Common Council 4th Floor, County -City Bldg. South Bend, IN 46601 Gentlemen: TELEPHONE 232 -5811 AREA CODE 219 Enclosed is an Ordinance which, if adopted by the South Bend Common Council and approved by the Mayor, would amend the South Bend Municipal Code as follows: 1. The rates would be increased each one - seventh (1/7) of a mile over (1/5) of a mile. The current rate is each one -sixth (1/6) of a mile over t of a mile. Said first one -fifth of a seventy -five (7 5 ) cents. to ten (10) cents for the first one -fifth ten (10) cents for ze first one -fifth (1/5) mile would remain at 2. The limitation against additional passengers would be eliminated. This Ordinance has the support of both taxicab companies in South Bend, Courtesy Cab Association and Indiana Yellow Cab Co., Inc. It is with reticence that the taxicab industry requests these rate increases, but the continued rise in the cost of living, specifically the high cost of automobiles, of gasoline and of maintenance, and the continuing increase in insurance costs, necessitates this request. This will be the first rate increase since January of 1977. Will you please have this Ordinance introduced for first reading on September 25, 1978, and for public hearing and second reading on October 9, 1978. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
