NEMETH, Mayor COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 Members of the Common Council 4th floor Council Chambers County -City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Dear Council Members: 219/284 -9742 I am requesting favorable consideration of the enclosed ordinance for transfer of funds in the Bureau of Cemeteries in the General Fund. The Bureau is requesting that $1,900.00 be transferred from and to various accounts as follows: FROM: 251.0 Building & Structures Repair $750.00 260.0 Other Contractuals 310.00 262.2 Flowers Perpetual Care 60.00 363.0 Other Office Supplies 50.00 370.0 Other Supplies 300.00 440.0 Other Materials 430.00 Total $1,900.00 TO: 214.0 Telephone & Telegraph 20.00 252.0 Equipment Repairs 500.00 323.0 Tires & Tubes 80.00 430.0 Repair Parts 200.00 726.0 'Other Equipment 1,100.00 Total $1,900.00 The cemeteries have been faced with old and run down equipment, thus causing costly repairs and loss of time. Through the years, there never has been a replacement program for new equipment. I feel with this approval in 1978 and the equipment budget for 1979, the bureau can start to alleviate this problem. Members of the Common Council October 4, 1978 Page 2 I have set up a replacement program in which a few pieces of equipment will be purchased each year, thus eliminating large budget requests in future years. This transfer is needed for the efficient operation of the Bureau of Cemeteries. Sincerely, Peter H.
