AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF $7,814.00
FROM ACCOUNT NO. 110.0, SALARIES AND WAGES,
REGULAR, TO ACCOUNT NO. 370.0, OTHER SUPPLIES,
IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,000.00, AND TO ACCOUNT NO.
726.0, OTHER EQUIPMENT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,814.00,
ALL ACCOUNTS BEING WITHIN THE BUREAU OF COMMUNICA-
TIONS BUDGET OF THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA.
STATE OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In that certain extraordinary conditions have developed
since the adoption of the existing budget for the Bureau of
Communications in the General Fund, so that it is now necessary
to appropriate more money than was appropriated in the original
budget for the various functions of City Government to meet such
extraordinary conditions; and
In that additional funds are 'needed for an account within the
Bureau of Communications, in the General Fund, to assure that De-
partment's ability to properly perform its function; and in that
a surplus exists in another account of the Bureau of Communications
budget, in the General Fund, which is not presently needed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the sum of $7,814.00 be transferred between
various accounts as set forth below:

Dear Councilmen:
The attached ordinance for the Bureau of Communications is to
transfer funds from the Salary account to various accounts in
their budget.
The money will be used for the purchase of a pace bench top
repair center in order to rebuild damaged solder runs on the
Police portable radios. This equipment will save the City
$12,000 in radios. Also, we would like to purchase a sequential
tone generator which is used in calibrating encode and decode
equipment, mostly for the Fire Department. The balance of the
money transferred will be used for a volt meter and for parts
for all radio units in the city.
A favorable recommendation will be appreciated.
