Agenda: Pokagon Development Update
Migrant Farmers Update
Council member Oliver Davis Chaired the Community Relations Committee meeting which was
scheduled to cover two items.
The first was an update on the Pokagon Indian Tribe's investment in the southwest portion of the City
off of Locust Road. Oliver announced this update would be rescheduled for another time.
The second item was a preliminary update on the housing issues of the migrant farm workers. Oliver
said he was informed the workers were going were going to be dispersed this year in private homes as
opposed to being housed in one faculty as they were last year.
Henry Davis said it was in the best interests of the migrant workers and the city to get out in front of this
issue. This feeling was echoed by both Tim Scott and Oliver Davis.
Council Attorney Kathy Cekanski - Farrand said she would take it upon herself to get contract information
for the farm workers.
Oliver Davis adjourned at 5:01 P.M.
