East Res. * Funds are subject to the City Controller's determination of availability; if funds are unavailable, as solely determined by the City Controller, then the authorization of the expenditure of such funds shall be void and of no effect. PURPOSE OF REQUEST: This request is to fund a portion of the construction costs for the West Washington Mid-Block Crossing project. The project will build a permanent mid-block crossing on Washington Street by the Civil Rights Heritage Center to facilitate safe pedestrian and bicycle crossings. It will follow the design concept tested in 2024 with the temporary installation at the same location. This area of Washington experiences a high volume of pedestrian crossings, and the project will significantly improve pedestrian safety. Staff requests that the Redevelopment Commission approve $90,000 from West Washington TIF for the project. The remaining funds are anticipated to come from public works.
