AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 8, SECTION
2 -120 (a) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA PERTAINING TO THE ANNUAL VACATIONS FOR
CITY PERSONNEL,
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
The Operators of the Waste Water Treatment Plant work a
regularly scheduled six (6) day week. Prior to 1970, earned
vacation time was based on 6 day weeks rather than 5 day weeks.
It is the City's wish to correct Chapter 2-120 (a) of the
Municipal Code so that it will conform to the Teamster's work
agreement, presently in effect with the City.
NOW, .THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows:
SECTION I. Chapter 2, Article 8, Section 2 -120 (a) of the
Municipal Code of the City of South Bend is hereby amended by the
addition of sub - section (6):
(6) Waste Water Treatment Plant Operators whose regular work
week is six (6) days on and two (2) days off will receive paid vacation
in accordance with the following schedule;

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on
January 1, 1979, and after its passage by the Common Council, approval
by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements.

Re: Vacation Schedule for Waste Water
'Treatment Plant Operators
Dear Councilmen:
The attached bill would correct the provision
of the Municipal Code pertaining to the vacation
schedule for Waste Water Treatment Plan Operators.
Prior to the passage of the last vacation ordinance,
the Waste Water Treatment Plant Operators received vacation based on a
six day work week since they worked six days on and two days off.
This provision reflected in the 1970 Waste Water Treatment Plant Teamster
Contract, was however omitted in the Municipal Code.
In the interest of clarifying the Code so that it reflects what the City
and Teamsters agreed upon, I offer the attached bill and seek your
approval.
