outside City limits). Residents needing help with city-related,non-emergency questions,such
as water billing,trash pickup,street light outages,and potholes,are encouraged to call. July 14

Last month,I announced the formation of the City of South Bend Mentoring Initiative,a booster For more information contact
club to support local mentorship programs under the leadership of chairman David Boggs. The Morris Performing Arts Center
initiative is collaboration between the Mayor's Office,Common Council,and many community 574.235.9190
members to raise awareness and support for existing mentorship programs at Big Brothers Big "Fridays By the Fountain"

Organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters already do impressive work in our community and July 5th
we hope that with the support of the booster club they will be able to expand their programs to Terry and the Heartbeats
reach even more of our city's youth. (Pop, R&B,Soul)

Mentorship programs provide positive role models and long-term support for at-risk students. The Douglas James Band
Introducing mentors into the lives of these students significantly increases their chances for (Country)
academic and personal success and decreases the likelihood of the students engaging in July 19th
dangerous or violent behavior.Mentorship programs also help to build a deeper sense of Unraveling String Band
community and provide a path to a successful future for our city's at-risk students. (Oldies)
Over the next two years,we hope to double the number of mentors in our community. If you July 26th

In May,I was also pleased to see that the third annual Lincoln Way West Community Clean Up July 5th
initiative was a huge success. Many thanks to organizer Consuella Hopkins and the nearly 300 Meet Me on the Island
community members who came out to plant flowers,pick up litter,and help maintain lawns July 7th, 14th,21st,&28th
along 40 blocks of our city. It is exciting to see so many citizens involved in grassroots efforts New Life Deliverance
to beautify our city. I hope it's a trend that continues.
