AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $14,240.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED
TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE 1979
ETHNIC FESTIVAL, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN
RESOURCES.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
The Common Council of the City of South Bend
recognizes the importance of ethnic groups in the history
of the community and wishes to encourage the promotion of the
community's ethnic heritage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THIS CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:

Dear Council Members:
Attached is an ordinance appropriating $14,240.00 from
Revenue Sharing for the 1979 Ethnic Festival.

We anticipate that the festival will take place Saturday,
June 30th and Sunday July 1st. Monday, July 2nd will be
reserved as a rain date. It is anticipated that the festi-
val will be located on Jefferson Blvd. between Main Street
and Service Court #5, as a result of the Mall building
demolition.
The 1979 budget reflects increases due to the proposed
change in location. To further facilitate your review
and approval of this ordinance, there is enclosed a line
item budget outlining the expected festival expenditures.
