AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $60,089 FROM THE
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT COMMONLY REFERRED
TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE MAYOR'S
ENVIRONMENTAL /ACTION CENTER TO BE ADMINISTERED
BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPART-
MENT OF ADMINISTRATION & FINANCE.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Additional funds are needed by the Mayor's Environmental/
Action Center to admin:i.ster its enforcement programs with regard to the
public health and safety, environmental protection and zoning. These funds
are, therefore, appropriated to insure the Department's ability to properly
perform these functions during the year of 1979.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That the sum of $60,089 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1979 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund, commonly known as
the General Revenue Sharing Fund. This appropriation is to be administered
by the Mayor's Environmental /Action Center and will be distributed as set
forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
January 2, 1979 from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by
the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements for emergency
funding.

Dear Council Members:
There will be presented at first reading of the December 11, 1978 Council
meeting an ordinance appropriating $60,089.00 from Revenue Sharing for the
Mayor's Environmental /Action Center budget.

As I'm sure you remember, the Mayor's Action Center budget was reduced by the
Administration at budget time with the intention of using some auxillary fund-
ing. Since Anti - Recession funds are no longer in existance, we request that
Revenue Sharing funds be used as supplemental funding for this budget.
