AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $57,450.00
FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT,
COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE
SHARING FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY PRO-
GRAMS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF
ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Additional funds are needed by the Bureau of Environmental
Control to administer certain Public Safety Programs and to ensure the Depart-
ment's ability to properly perform its functions during the year 1979.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $57,450.00 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1979 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund, commonly known as
the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This appropriation is to be adminis-
tered by the Department of Administration and Finance and will be distributed
as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect January 2, 1979 after its passage by the Common Council, approval by
the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements for emergency
appropriations.

There will be presented at first reading of the December 11, 1978 Council
meeting an ordinance appropriating $57,450.00 from Revenue Sharing for
Humane Society contractual services concerning animal control in the City of
South Bend.
On the basis of the recently negotiated contract between the City and the Humane
Society, our annual base fee will change from $52,300 in 1978 to $55,000 in 1979.
In addition, I have requested $2,450.00 to be paid at the rate of $10 per call
for emergency calls after hours. This latter amount would only be paid out as
needed.
