Following a series of negotiating sessions, agreements were reached with regard to specific pay policies and procedures. As a result of these agreements, Ordinance Nos. 9350-02 and 9351-02 were passed by the Common Council and a subsequent written agreement was approved by the City and Teamster Local No. 364. The following Ordinance amends the relevant sections of the City Code addressing holidays. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana as follows: Section I. Chapter 2, Article 8, Section 2-121 is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 2-121 Holidays. (a) Officers and employees shall receive nine 9 designated holidays as approved by the Board of Public Works and t~va-(z~ one 1 additional nondesignated holiday. An officer or employee may choose to substitute tiicsc this additional i~olirlxys holiday for one of the following nondesignated holidays: Martin Luther King DaY President's Dav Columbus Day -Observed Christmas Eve Dav after Christmas Employee's Birthday A Reli ious Holiday of the Employee's choosin>? (b) This section does not apply to sworn police officers or firefighters. Section II. Pursuant to my statement to the Council at the passage of Ordinances 9350-02 and 9351- 02 (pay policies and procedures) Section 2-121 is being amended to reflect the choice of holidays employees may take for the one nondesignated holiday employees are allowed each year. This Ordinance could not be completed until the Board of Public Works approved the 2003 Holiday Schedule for City Employees. The Board of Public Works approved the 2003 Holiday Schedule at its meeting on November 7, 2002. I will be present to answer any questions the Common Council may have concerning this Ordinance.
