AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $95,000 FROM THE
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT FUND, COMMONLY REFERRED
TO AS REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE PURCHASE OF DIESEL
FUEL AND GASOLINE, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF
ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Additional funds are needed to administer certain programs
and to ensure the City's ability to properly perform its functions
during the year 1979. Without these funds, the City would have
to curtail certain programs-.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $95,000 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1979 from Revenue Sharing. This appropriation is
to be administered by the Department of Administration and
Finance as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and

RE: Revenue Sharing Request
Motor Fuel
Dear Councilmen:
Attached you will find an ordinance requesting $95,000 from the
General Revenue Sharing Fund. Purpose of this appropriation is
to supplement the regular budget line items and other supple-
mentary appropriations which have been made in order to balance
the funding needed for motor fuel purchases as projected for
1979. It is anticipated that the total cost for motor fuel for
1979 will be approximately $353,000. (It was estimated in June
of last year, at budget time, that 1979 costs would be $360,000.)
A breakdown of the total funding for motor fuel is as follows:
$178,000 -
General Fund
30,000 -
Water Works
50,000 -
Street Department (MVH)
95,000 -
Revenue Sharing
$353,000
A review of our gasoline and diesel fuel usage has been made and
I find that the usage for 1979 is consistent with the gasoline
usage during 1978. We have experienced, however, an average in-
crease in cost in 1979 of 1.88 cents per gallon per month.
