AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $123,500.00 FROM THE
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED TO
AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE DESIGN OF
THE EAST RACE PROJECT, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
PARKS.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
WHEREAS, the City would like to proceed with the development
of the East Riverbank as outlined in the St. Joseph River Corridor
Report of 1973. Funds are now needed for the required engineering
services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $123,500.00 is hereby appropriated
from General Revenue Sharing for the design of the East Race Project.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Public
Parks as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and

The attached ordinance appropriates the sum of $123,500
for engineering costs for the east race park development.
Please mark your calendar for a Mayor- Council caucus which
will be held in my conference room at 4:00 p.m., on Monday,
July 16, 1979. At that meeting, we will discuss the east race
park development, as well as redevelopment plans for the east
bank area.
I hope that any questions you may have regarding this
matter can be answered at that time.
