GAMMON Approved and signed by me . _ o . � 9 -LL- Clerk ORDINANCE NO. 4 4 k a -79_ AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF FIREFIGHTERS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1980 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The firefighter shall obtain his second service year on the next succeeding first day of January until he attains the maximum salary for the particular rank he may hold. SECTION II. In addition to the foregoing annual pay, the officers and members of the fire force shall receive compensation for extra,duty and special performance as follows: (a) For recall or overtime pay, time and one -half. (b) For regularly assigned drivers of fire trucks and other heavy equipment, the tillerman,and personnel assigned to drive ambulances on regular or rotation basis, $250.00 per year. (c) For regularly assigned scuba divers, $225.00 per year. (d) Firemen performing paramedic duties will be paid at a level which is a maximum of $800.00 dollars over the base pay for their rank. (e) For all personnel required to work on holidays, the pay- ment shall be as follows those persons working from midnight to 7:00 a.m., payment shall be $16.00; those persons working 7:00 a.m., to midnight, shall receive $32.00. (f) The holiday pay shall apply to holidays listed below and no others: New Year's Day Fourth of July Lincoln's Birthday Labor Day Washington's Birthday Columbus Day Good Friday Veteran's Day Easter Sunday Thanksgiving Day Memorial Day Christmas SECTION III. The Common Council recommends as follows: (a) The firefighters clothing allowance shall be $400.00 per year. One -half of the clothing allowance shall be paid to each firefighter by June 30, 1980, and the remaining one -half shall be paid by December 31, 1980. (b) That the Board of Public Safety, the Common Council, and members from the South Bend Firefighters Association Local 362 of the International Association of Firefighters, work to- gether to develop a Nomex safety clothing program within the Fire Department. SECTION IV. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect for the calendar year commencing January 1, 1980, and ending December 31, 1980.
