RE: Monroe Street, Main Street to Lafayette Boulevard
Dear Councilmen:
219/284 -9251
Attached you will find an ordinance appropriating $69,500 from the
Cumulative Sewer Building and Sinking Fund and $70,000 from the
Local Road and Street Fund (a total of $139,500).
This funding is requested to enable the City to widen Monroe Street
to a width comparable with that section of Monroe Street which ex-
tends from Lincoln Way East to Main Street. This widening is neces-
sary to properly and adequately address present traffic demands.
Said demands are anticipated to increase sharply during the recon-
struction of the Colfax Bridge; these improvements are critical to
downtown traffic patterns when Colfax is closed.
In addition to the roadway widening, the sewer separation activity
pursued during recent years will be continued with this project.
Should you have any questions or require further information, please
contact this office at your earliest convenience. Your favorable
consideration is requested.
Very truly yours,
grick M. McMahon, P.E.
