This funding is requested to enable the City to widen Monroe Street to a width comparable with that section of Monroe Street which ex- tends from Lincoln Way East to Main Street. This widening is neces- sary to properly and adequately address present traffic demands. Said demands are anticipated to increase sharply during the recon- struction of the Colfax Bridge; these improvements are critical to downtown traffic patterns when Colfax is closed. In addition to the roadway widening, the sewer separation activity pursued during recent years will be continued with this project.
