AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $325,000.00
FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT,
COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE
SHARING, FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
OF A FIRE STATION TO BE LOCATED IN THE
AREA OF THE AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL PARK,
TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes that there has
been major expansion of a residential, commercial, and light industrial nature
in the Airport Industrial Park and its surrounding area, and it wishes to
support and encourage such expansion by providing fire protection on a level
equal to the expansion
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $325,000.00 is hereby appropriated
from General Revenue Sharing for the design and construction of the northwest
Airport Industrial Park Fire Station. This appropriation is to be administered
by the Department of Public Works as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and

There will be presented, for your consideration, at the March 12, 1979
Council meeting, the first reading of an Ordinance appropriating $325,000.00
for the design and construction of a Fire Station to be located in the north-
west section of the City of South Bend.
More specifically, it is felt that the business development and residential
building activity in the area of the Airport Industrial Park warrants
additional fire protection.
