AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BUREAU OF
WATER OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND INTER-
STATE CONTRACTING & COATING CO., INC., ZELIENOPLE,
PENNSYLVANIA FOR THE REPAINTING OF THE IRELAND ROAD
STANDPIPE (3.5 MILLION GALLONS) IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF
$56,700.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
This ordinance concerns the repainting of the Ireland Road Stand-
pipe (3.5 million gallons). The Ireland tank was last painted in 1961
when it was built. It is in reasonably good shape at this time but is
starting to deteriorate, and should be maintained by painting inside
and outside before it gets any worse.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That the Contract entered into between the Bureau of
Water of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and Inter -State Contracting &
Coating Co., Inc., Zelienople, Pennsylvania, on the 4th day of September,
1979, pursuant to advertising and receipt of bids as repainting of the
standpipe is necessary in the operation of the Bureau of Water, in a
total amount not to exceed $56,700 as bid, is hereby approved and
confirmed:
Inter -State Contracting &
Coating Co., Inc.
Zelienople, Pennsylvania $56,700 (Low Bid)
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption by the Common Council and approved by the Mayor.

Due to the very limited amount of time in regard to good painting
weather it is imperative that we ask for a suspension of the rules in order
to begin work as soon as possible.
Bill Dillon from our office will be happy to answer any questions
you may have.
Your consideration for the suspension of the rules so that we can
have first reading, second reading and final approval on September 10, would
be greatly appreciated by this office.

The Bureau of Water is presenting an Ordinance to the Common Council
for the repainting of the Ireland Road Standpipe (3.5 Million Gallons).
Bids were let pursuant to the Statutes of the State of Indiana and
were found competitive. The Contract was awarded to Inter -State Contracting &
Coating Co., Inc., Zelienople, Pennsylvania, by the Board of Water Works
Commissioners on the 4th day of September, 1979, as being the lowest and best
bid. The total amount of this expenditure will be $56,700 as bid by Inter -State
Contracting & Coating Co., Inc.
