The staff report was presented by:
Kate Himick, Historic Preservation Specialist
Staff Recommendation:
The block garage sustained significant structural damage during the storm, and
was not evidence of the home's periods of significance. Staff do not believe
that the garage's removal and reconstruction with the materials listed above
constitute a threat to the integrity of the home's historic character or value. All
repair work is in line with recommendations made in the Standards and
Guidelines. Based on the information provided prior to this public hearing,
Staff make a FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION.

After due consideration the following action was taken:
Upon a motion by David Wyncott, seconded by Peter DeKever, and
UNANIMOULY carried by vote, the Historic Preservation Commission
APPROVES Certificate of Appropriateness Application #2025-0805

Commissioner Wyncott: AYE
Commissioner DeKever: AYE
Commissioner Downs-Krostenko: AYE
Commissioner Hough: AYE
Commissioner Andrews: AYE
Vote: 7-0. Five in favor, none opposed.

b. LOCAL LANDMARKS DESIGNATIONS
i. 528 South Eddy Street Local Landmark Ordinance #9089-00

The staff report was presented by:
Kate Himick, Historic Preservation Specialist
Staff Recommendation:
It is the belief of Staff that the original Iandmarking ordinance for Jefferson
School was intended to protect the school building itself. In order to support
both the interests of the Historic Preservation Commission and the South
Bend Community School Corporation, Staff believe it is in the best interests
of both parties for landmark boundaries to be redrawn. Based on the
information provided prior to this public hearing, Staff make a FAVORABLE
RECOMMENDATION for the Historic Preservation Commission to forward its
favorable recommendation for this proposed Ordinance to the Common
Council of the City of South Bend.

Beale Street
The public was represented by:
There was no one from the public to speak in regard to this application.
After due consideration the following action was taken:
Upon a motion by David Wyncott, and seconded by Michael Skaggs, and
carried by vote, the Historic Preservation Commission moves to send the
Amendment of Landmark Ordinance #9089-00 to the Common Council with a
favorable recommendation.

in the deliberation of this.

Vote: 5-1-1. Five in favor, one opposed, one abstention.
Amendment of Landmark Ordinance #9089-00 to the Common Council
with a favorable recommendation.
