AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $22,000.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY KNOWN AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY PROGRAMS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH THE BUREAU OF POLICE. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: Additional funds are needed by the Bureau of Police to administer certain programs and to ensure the Department's ability to properly perform its functions during the year 1979: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The sum of $22,000.00 is hereby appropriated for the year 1979 from the Federal Assistance Grand Fund commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This appropriation is to be administered by the Bureau of Police and will be distributed as set forth below: PROGRAM FA 189 BUREAU OF POLICE MEDICAL EXPENSES Account Description Amount Contractual 262.0 Medical, Surgical, Dental $ 22,000.00 Total Budget Appropriation $ 22,000.00 SECTION II. As you are aware, the City self insures Worker's Compensation for police officers. As happens periodically, there has been a larger number of officer injuries during 1979 which will exceed the monies budgeted for this purpose. if you have additional questions, please feel free to contact my office.
