Strategies & Programs City of South Bend Indiana City of South Bend Indiana Traffic Enforcement & Safety Strategy Traffic Stops •In Q3 2025, there were 4,413 traffic stops •Average of 48 per day for the quarter •From January – September 2025, there have been a total of 10,447 traffic stops •This is up 8% compared to the same period last year *These are stops for traffic violations only City of South Bend Indiana City of South Bend Indiana Traffic Enforcement & Safety Strategy Vehicle Collisions •This slide shows vehicle collision data through Q3 2025, with comparisons to the same period in 2024 •Visuals include: Collision count, fatality & injury rates, and a heat map •Through Q3 2025, there have been 2,149 vehicle collisions. Who South Bend Police Department How •Uses integrated cameras and other public safety technologies to provide a more real-time understanding of incidents •30-day photo retention on cloud server •Limited users with an administrator for account reviews Fusus/Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) City of South Bend Indiana City of South Bend Indiana Snapshot of RTCC Case Assists City of South Bend Indiana RTCC Success Stories A few cases demonstrating the value of RTCC cameras Situation: A shooting occurred in Maple Lane Apartments. Cameras helped: RTCC analysts see the suspect run and get into a vehicle. This info was relayed to officers resulting in a pursuit and apprehension. A backpack containing a firearm was discarded by the suspect in the process. Suspect Apprehended & Firearm Located Situation: An armed robbery occurred in the parking lot of the Charles Black Center. Cameras helped: Obtain video of the incident and identify the vehicle using Flock. The vehicle was located at the registered address. A search warrant was conducted, where a firearm was located and the suspect was arrested. Arrest City of South Bend Indiana RTCC Success Stories A few cases demonstrating the value of RTCC cameras Situation: A shooting occurred near Bowman/Miami. Cameras helped: RTCC analysts locate the suspect vehicle and identify the vehicle using Flock. With this info, officers were able to locate the vehicle with signs of the window being shot out. Officers then executed a search warrant on the vehicle. Search Warrant Executed Situation: An individual escaped from the DuComb center after transport to the hospital. Cameras helped: Using the description from Dispatch, cameras helped RTCC analysts locate the suspect and provide the info to officers who were able to locate and detain the escapee.
