Dear Council Members;
Attached is a Revenue Sharing Ordinance appropriating $5,000.00 for
certain services provided by Action, Inc. to the City of South Bend.
As you know, Action is leasing a city -owned Fire Station at 1820
So. Michigans Street which lease the Council recently agreed to
extend for 5 years. This building is an inkind contribution re-
quired of the City of South Bend by the Community Services Administra-
tion.
Please note that this ordinance is for contractual services primarily
for the weatherization services Action is providing to their clients
who fall below the poverty level in South Bend. Action receives .
approximately $250,000.00 from grants to purchase materials for in-
sulating homes. This $5,000.00 appropriation will allow Action to
provide more adequate facilities in their headquarters to aid in
this program.
We feel that this appropriation is necessary to fulfill an important
service to the residents of South Bend. Your approval is requested.
