AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $96,000.00 FROM THE LOCAL
ROAD AND STREET FUND TO R & S 60, ORANGE /COLFAX
CONNECTOR, WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In that certain conditions exist which requires the expenditure of
funds for the purpose of constructing the Orange /Colfax Connector;
and
In that funds are now needed to pay a portion of the costs of
construction
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the sum of $96,000.00 be appropriated from the
1979 Local Road and Street Fund to Project R & S 60, as set forth below:

Attached you will find an ordinance requesting $96,000.00 of Local Roads
and Street Funds for the Orange /Colfax Connector project.
As you are aware, the Indiana State Highway Commission has recently received
and awarded bids to the Rieth -Riley Construction Company for the construction
of this improvement. The bid, as awarded, is in excess of $2,135,000.00.
This appropriation of $96,000.00 is necessary to bring the City's local
matching funds for construction up to a total of approximately $575,000.00.
Based on conversations with the State Highway Department and the contractor,
I believe that this project will be started this fall with completion in late
summer of 1980.
