AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $135,000.00
FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY
REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION OF AFIRE STATION TO BE
LOCATED IN THE AREA OF THE AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL
PARK, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes that there
has been major expansion of a residential, commercial, and light
industrial nature in the Airport Industrial Park and its
surrounding area, and it wishes to support and encourage
such expansion by providing fire protection on a level equal
to the expansion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council
of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $135,000.00 is hereby
appropriated from the General Revenue Sharing for the construction
of the northwest Airport Industrial Park Fire Station. This
appropriation is to be administered by the Department of
Public Works as set forth below:

Dear Council Members:
There will be filed for your consideration at the November 15,
1979, Meeting, an ordinance appropriating additional revenue sharing
funds for the construction of the Northwest Fire Station.
As I'm sure you're aware, the low bid received by the Board
of Public Works exceeded the engineering estimate and the original
appropriation passed by the Common Council. Therefore, I am request-
ing the additional appropriation of $135,000.00 so that construction
may be completed.
