AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $35,000.00 FROM THE EQUAL EMPLOYMENT
OPPORTUNITY FUND TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND
THROUGH ITS HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION AND DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN
RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
The City of South Bend is committed to equal employment opportunity.
In attempting to achieve this goal a local Human Rights Commission has been
established. This ordinance will enable the City to resolve charges of dis-
crimination referred to the local Human Rights Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $35,000.00 is hereby appropriated for the fiscal
year starting November 1, 1979, from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
Fund. The appropriation shall be used for the expenses of the Human Rights
Commission incurred under the Federal Grant awarded them by the Equal Employ-
ment Opportunity Commission. The appropriation shall be administered by the
Human Rights Commission and Department of Human Resources and Economic Develop-
ment and will be administered as set forth below:
