ORDINANCE NO. (o 70 O ° 2
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL OPERATING
FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $49,420.00 FOR THE CALENDAR
YEAR 1979, FROM THE SEWAGE WORKS OPERATING FUND
TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, THROUGH THE BUREAU OF SEWERS.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Whereas, unforeseen circumstances have made it necessary
to appropriate more monies than were originally appropriated
in the 1979 Operating Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION I. That for the calendar year 1979, the Council
does hereby approve an additional appropriation in the amount
of $49,420.00. Said appropriation will be administered through
the Bureau of Sewers as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council,

Dear Council Members:
There will be presented at the first reading of the
November 15, 1979 Council Meeting two (2) Ordinances
appropriating additional funds to the Bureau of Solid
Waste and the Bureau of Sewers within the Division of
Utilities.

The Bureau of Solid Waste needs additional funds to pay
wages the balance of 1979 for those individuals who
were absorbed because of the loss of funding through
CETA. Now that the Solid Waste program is finally
showing great progress, these individuals are needed.
In addition, the Bureau of Sewers needs additional funding
in several areas to make their budget truly reflect their
level of operations. The majority of this extra expense
is directly related to a change in policy during 1978
which made them and their equipment a part of the city-
wide snow plowing effort.
