50005 ,,.i
bxi
•l=►`t•
i
:13011
I
Lochmueller Group (Lochmueller) brings together a traffic engineering
team of seasoned experts in designing Intelligent Transportation
Systems (ITS) and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS). Project
Manager Rich Schmidt, PTOE, will lead our team with support from
Tyson King, PE, PTOE, RSP2i, who will serve as Systems Engineering Lead.
Using our experience with the latest technologies, methodologies, and
engineering practices, we will meet the City of South Bend's goals and
deliver a traffic signal Central Management System (CMS) that can be
successfully operated and maintained.
r'r
LOCHMUELLER DESIGNED,
OPTIMIZED, or PROGRAMMED
Ill 00+ SIGNALIZED
INTERSECTIONS
SINCE 2018
Exceptional Leadership & Technical Skills for Your ITS Project I Rich and Tyson bring decades
of ITS design experience to the table. In addition to his engineering credentials, Rich worked for Sensys Networks,
Q-Free, and Yunex Traffic designing and deploying detection equipment, controllers, adaptive timing systems,
ATSPMs, and Central Management Systems throughout the U.S. Rich's experience, combined with Tyson's work at
Lochmueller and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), is unrivaled in Northern Indiana and will
translate to project success for the City of South Bend.
Expertise in ITS Networking & Field Device Technologies for ITS Applications I Lochmueller's
team has extensive experience with signal inventories, ADA compliance checks, signal design, and timing optimization.
Each is critical to ensuring the CMS includes all the elements for success. We also have expertise in connected vehicle
technology, where roadside units (RSUs) are deployed for the signal system to communicate with on -board units
(OBUs). Some newer vehicles come equipped with OBUs, and OBUs can be added to emergency vehicles, buses, police
cars, etc. to implement emergency or low priority signal pre-emption. Near miss detection technology can also send
safety messages to connected vehicles to alert them of impending incidents, while also triggering flashing beacons to
warn non -connected vehicles.
Proven Delivery I Our team has a successful track record of providing ITS and ATMS design and implementation
for other agencies: like MoDOT St. Louis District, the City of Springfield, IL, and St. Charles County, MO. The City can
feel confident in our ability to install an effective traffic signal CMS, as well as upgrades to traffic signals and cabinets
throughout the City. Our team comprises of professionals able to satisfy your needs outlined in the RFP and other
potential services required to implement the CMS strategies. Lochmueller doesn't just check off boxes. We anticipate
your needs and operate as a true consultant partner.
LOCHMUELLER GROUP 1 1
