AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AND ESTABLISHING AN
HISTORIC LANDMARK UNDER ORDINANCE NO. 5565-73,
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68, AS AMENDED,
COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND
WHEREAS, a member of the Common Council of the City of South
Bend has petitioned for the designation of the following described
real estate as an Historic Landmark under Ordinance No. 5565-73, as
amended, to wit:
Lot 4 and 42 ft.
North Side Lot 5
Original Plat
The improvements located upon said land
can be commonly described as 211 -217 North
Michigan Street - Morris Civic Auditorium
hereinafter referred to as the "PROPERTY."
WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend
and 3t. Joseph County has recommended the designation of the PROPERTY
as an Historic Landmark.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION 1.
That the above described PROPERTY be, and it is hereby,
designated and established as an Historic Landmark under Ordinance
No. 5565 -73, as amended.
SECTION 2.
That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage by the Common Council, approved by the Mayor
and legal publication.

in front on a small plaza. Building faces east.
roof Roof line has entablature forms with small cornice
at top, a wide, wide frieze below and a string course
below.
wall Light brick with stone string course at the top. Largell
plastic sign runs across the entire facade.'just above
the lst story. Pedestrian level - granite blocks
doors 3 arched doors in the center each with 2 double doors and
an arched transom above divided into horizontal lights, 2 more
eliptical doors on either side of the central 3. South end door

RE Proposed designation of property located at
211 -217 N. Michigan Street,
Morris Civic Auditorium
Dear Mr. Wasielewski:
The staff of the Area Plan Commission has reviewed
the Historic Preservation
'Commission's proposed designation of the above property as an historical land -
-mark with respect to the relationship of said property to any capital improve -
ments proposed for nearby rights -of -way, easements
or properties.
We find no proposed improvements that will conflict
with this structure; and,
therefore, we return a favorable recommendation to
the Historic Preservation
Commission and the Common Council.
