AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $179,000,00 FROM THE
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED TO
AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR DEVELOPMENT OF
PERMANENT, INTERPRETIVE EXHIBITS FOR THE DISCOVERY
HALL MUSEUM, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION
AND FINANCE,
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT;
WHEREAS, funds are needed to finish-phase I of design,
constitution and installation of the permanent interpretive
exhibits for the Discovery Hall Museum,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council
of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows;
SECTION I, The sum of $179,000,00 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1979 from the Federal Assistance. Grant Fund,
commonly referred to as General Revenue Sharing for the design,
constitution and installation of permanent, interpretive
exhibits for the Discovery Hall.Museum.

Dear Council Members:
There will be introduced for your consideration at first
reading of the December 3, 1979 Council Meeting (2) two
Ordinances appropriating revenue sharing funds in the
following manner:
219/284 -9742
(A) Discovery Hall Exhibits $ 179,000,00
(B) Century Center Equipment 16,950.00
The Discovery Hall request is in place of the earlier
appropriation of $300,000,00 for permanent exhibits. The
Century Center equipment request is for the purchase of a
grand piano, estimated to cost $7,115.00, and the purchase
of a computerized automatic energy and power control system.
The Hotel -Motel Board has agreed to provide $7,600.00
towards the purchase of the system with the City providing
the estimated balance of $ 9,800.00.
