AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $19,525.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY RE-
FERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING FOR THE
MAYOR'S ENVIRONMENTAL /ACTION CENTER TO BE
ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH
ITS MAYOR'S ENVIRONMENTAL /ACTION CENTER.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Additional funds are.needed by the Mayor's Environmental/
Action Center to establish a year round full time Clean -up
Crew, to address the community's environmental problems.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, as follows:
SECTION I. That the sum of $19,525.00 is hereby appropri-
ated for the year 1980 within the General Revenue Sharing Fund.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Mayor's Envi-
ronmental /Action Center and will be distributed as set forth
below:

SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval
by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements
for emergency funding.

Dear Members of the Council:
The Mayor's Environmental /Action Center is asking your
favorable consideration on this bill appropriating
$40,100.00 from the General Revenue Sharing fund. This
appropriation will be used to fund a full -time environ-
mental clean -up crew responsible to the Mayor's Environ-
mental /Action Center.
This full -time crew will be responsible for answering
complaints concerning environmental clean -up, and for
initiating clean -up in designated areas. This will
allow us to respond to environmental complaints within
a minimum amount of time.
