AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $18,450.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY RE-
FERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR
VARIOUS PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMS TO BE ADMINI-
STERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Additional funds are needed by the Department of Public
Works to administer the 1980 Summer Environmental Clean -Up
Program. It is to provide support services in the areas of
Equipment Repair, Truck Leasing, Gasoline, Repair Parts, and
Program Equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $18,450.00 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1980 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund, com-
monly known as the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This
appropriation is to be administered by the Department of
Public Works and will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, appro-
val by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory require-
ments for emergency appropriations.

Dear Members of the Council:
The Department of Public Works is requesting an appro-
priation of $18,450.00 from Federal Revenue Sharing
funds. This appropriation will be used to sponsor the
annual Summer Environmental Clean -Up Program for 1980.
As in the past this program, otherwise known as the Summer
Weed Program, will be staffed primarily by CETA employees.
The requested appropriation will be used to cover operating
expenses.
Your favorable consideration is requested in this matter,
and I am available at your convenience for further dis-
cussion.
