AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68,
AS AMENDED, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
(Chapter 21, Municipal Code.)
BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 4990 -68, as amended, which ordinance
is commonly known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of South Bend, Indiana, be and
the same hereby is amended in order that the zoning classification of the following
described real estate in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, State of Indiana:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the South right -of -way
line of the Indiana East -West Toll Road and the Easterly right -
of -way line of Maple Road, near the Northwest corner of Section 27,
Township 38 North, Range 2 East, St. Joseph County, Indiana,'
THENCE Northeasterly along the easterly right -of -way line of Maple Road
and said Easterly right -of -way line projected to a point of inter-
section of said Maple Road Easterly right -of -way line with the
Northerly right -of -way line of the New Cleveland Road
THENCE Northwesterly and Westerly along the Northerly right -of -way line of
the New Cleveland Road to the point of intersection with the West
right -of -way line of Mayflower Road
THENCE Northerly along the West right -of -way line of Mayflower Road to the

We, the undersigned, make application and petition the South Bend Common
Council to amend the Zoning Ordinance as herein requested.
1) The property sought to be rezoned is recently annexed land in
and around the Michiana Regional Airport.
2) This area to be rezoned contains 24 property owners. For
those names and addresses, see the annexation file.
3) It is desired and requested that this property be rezoned
from "A" Agriculture, "M" Manufacturing, "R" Residential,
and "B" Business (County Zoning) to "D" Light Industrial,
"A" Height and Area and "E" Heavy Industrial, "A" Height
and Area. (City Zoning)
4) This rezoning is requested so as to allow the following
uses:
Michiana Regional Airport and accessory uses, plus various
commercial /industrial operations.
5) Attached is a copy of each of the following:

RE: A proposed ordinance initiated by the Area Plan Commission to zone
recently annexed land in and around the Michiana Regional Airport by
the City of South Bend to "D" Light Industrial, "A" Height and Area,
and "E" Heavy Industrial, "A" Height and Area, City of South Bend.
Gentlemen:
The attached rezoning petition of the Area Plan Commission was legally
advertised on December 8, 1979• The Commission gave it a public hearing
on December 18, at which time the following action was taken:
Upon a motion by John DeLee, seconded by June Stratton, and
unanimously carried, the proposed ordinance initiated by the
Area Plan Commission is sent to the Common Council with a
favorable recommendation.
The deliberations of the Area Plan Commission and points considered in arriving
at the above decision are shown in the minutes of the public hearing, and will
be forwarded to you at a later date to be made a part of this report.
Attached, for your consideration in the review of this matter, is a copy of
the Area Plan Commission's Staff Report..
