ORDINANCE NO. %5`.3 -$0 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $1600.00 TO ACCOUNT 230.0 INSTRUCTION. SAID ACCOUNT BEING IN THE SAVE -A -LIFE FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, AND TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: Additional funds are needed for the purpose of training the paramedic personnel of the Fire Department during the year 1980. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The sum of $1600.00 is hereby appropriated to Account 230.0 Instruction, said account being in the Save - A -Life Fund of the City of South Bend. These appropriations will be administered by the Fire Department. SECTION II. PARENT, Mayor COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 January 23, 1980 South Bend Common Council 4th Floor County -City Building South Bend; Ind. 46601 Honorable Council Members: This appropriation is necessary to pay the cost of tuition for the training of four Firefighters to be trained and certified as Paramedics. The School is being conducted through St. Joseph's hospital and is thirteen weeks long. The Fire Department currently is two Paramedics short, having ten rather than the necessary twelve. The Department's intention is to eventually have eighteen trained and certified Paramedics. This will allow a ready reserve to compensate for injury, illness, vaca- tions and relief.
