ORDINANCE NO. 6 7.S /- fie) AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $7,000.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT FUND, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE GENERAL REVENUE SHARING GRANT FOR OFFICE EQUIPMENT TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: Additional funds are needed to administer certain programs and to insure the City's ability to properly perform its functions during the year 1980. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The sum of $7,000.00 is hereby appropriated for the year 1980 from the General Revenue Sharing Fund. This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Administration and Finance and will be distributed as set forth below: PROGRAM FA 207 OFFICE EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT DESCRIPTION AMOUNT 725.0 Office Equipment $ 7,000.00 TOTAL FA 207 $ 7,000.00 SECTION II, This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements for emergency appropriations. PARENT, Mayor COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 January 23, 1980 Members of the Council 4th Floor, Council Chambers County -City Building South Bend, Indiana Dear Council Members: The proposed ordinance that you have before you allocates $7,000.00 in Revenue Sharing Funds to be used for the purchase of office equipment. A rough breakdown on the projected use of these funds is as follows: $2,100.00 for office furnishings such as desk, table, chairs and files, $2,500.00 for typewriters and $2,400.00 for dictating and transcribing equipment. The request for Revenue Sharing funds for these items is based solely on the fact that they are necessary for the efficient operation of the Mayor's, Controller's and City Attorney's offices. Considerable downtime has been encountered in recent weeks because of the age and general disrepair of the present office equipment. With regard to the dictating and transcribing equipment, we are also making every effort to insure that all of the systems are compatible, which had not been the case in the past.
