AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $5,000.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY
REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING,
FOR DEFRAYING THE EXPENSE OF PROVIDING A
FIRE WORKS DISPLAY IN CONJUNCTION WITH
THE ETHNIC FESTIVAL. THIS APPROPRIATION
WILL BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRA-
TION AND FINANCE.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
. WHEREAS, the Administration has decided that there
exists considerable interest in the community in support of
providing a fire work display in conjunction with the Ethnic
Festival and the Fourth of July.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON.COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $5,000.00 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1980 from the Federal Assistance Grant commonly
referred to as Revenue Sharing. This appropriation will be
administered by the Department of Administration and Finance
and will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and

Dear Members of the Council:

Through the attached ordinance, the Controller's office
is requesting the Common Council to approve the appro-
priation of $5,000.00 from Revenue Sharing for the 1980
Fireworks Display.
I anticipate the Council's favorable action because of
the public support you have shown.
The City has contracted for a display of up to $7,000.00.
It is anticipated that the balance of funds over the
$5,000.00 request will be provided through public dona-
tions. If our attempts exceed the needed difference,
it is the City's intent to amend the requested Revenue
Sharing appropriation at public hearing.
