AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $240,000.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: In that additional funds are needed by the Department of Public Works to ensure the Department's ability to properly perform its function. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The sum of $240,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the Federal Assistance Grant, commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Fund. This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Public Works and will be distributed as set forth below: PROGRAM FA -211 ACCOUNT DESCRIPTION AMOUNT 440.0 Materials $240,000.00 TOTAL FA -211 $240,000.00 SECTION II. These funds are needed to supplement the 1980 Budget for the paving and slurry program. The price of street materials has increased approximately 23% from last year and additional funds are needed to accommodate this increase. Due to the lack of Motor Vehicle Highway Funds, I have chosen to again request moneys available from the General Revenue Sharing Fund. Your consideration of this appropriation is requested.
