AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $715,000.00 FROM THE
LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND, AND $550,000.00 FROM
THE CUMULATIVE SEWER BUILDING AND SINKING FUND
TO PROJECT R & S 53, SAMPLE, CHAPIN TO OLIVE,
WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In order to meet existing and proposed traffic demands, to provide the
safe and efficient movement of vehicles, and to provide positive control of
storm drainage, certain improvements have been proposed for Sample, from
Chapin to Olive.
Funds are now needed to pay the cost of engineering and construction
of these improvements. These funds are available from the Cumulative Sewer
Building and Sinking Fund, and Local Road and Street Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I: The following sums of money are hereby appropriated and
ordered set apart out of Cumulative Sewer Building and Sinking Fund, and the
Local Road and Street Fund for the project in the amounts set forth below:

Cumulative Sewer Building and Sinking Fund $ 550,000.00
Local Road and Street Fund 715,000.00
TOTAL PROJECT $1,265,000.00
SECTION II: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

RE: Sample Street Widening, Olive Street
to Chapin Street
Dear Councilmen:
The attached ordinance requests a total of $1,265,000.00 for the
Purpose of widening and constructing certain storm sewer improve-
ments on Sample Street between Chapin and Olive Streets. This
project has been under planning and design for a number of years,
and has been brought forward to the construction stage in order to
coincide with the anticipated construction of the Olive /Sample
Overpass.
Plans and specifications are available in our office for your re-
view, should you so desire. Your favorable consideration is re-
quested. Should you have any questions in regard to this appropriation,
please contact me at your earliest convenience.
