AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $185,000.00 FROM THE
LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND TO THE CONTRACTUAL
SERVICES ACCOUNT, 0260. FOR THE PAVING AND
SCARIFICATION OF VARIOUS STREETS, WITHIN THE
LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In order to meet existing and proposed traffic demands, to provide
the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, and to provide positive
control of storm drainage, the following streets will be resurfaced and
scarified: Indiana from Swygart to Prairie; Diamond from Lincoln Way
West to Portage; Elwood from Portage to Olive; and Riverside from Angela
to California.
Funds are now needed to pay the cost of these improvements. These
funds are available from the Local Road and Street Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I: The following sum of money is hereby appropriated and
ordered set apart out of the Local Road and Street Fund for the project
in the amount set forth below:

SECTION II: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from

RE: Scarification and Resurfacing of Various Streets
Dear Councilmen:

The attached ordinance requests a total of $185,000.00 from the Local
Road and Street Fund to be utilized by this office in contracting for
the scarification and repaving of various streets within the City of
South Bend. I have chosen to pursue this activity through the Road
and Street Fund and the use of a private contractor due to the lack
of Motor Vehicle Highway Funds which the City currently faces. Those
streets currently under consideration for scarification and resurfac-
ing are:
Indiana Avenue from Swygart Avenue to Prairie Avenue
' Diamond Avenue from Lincolnway West to Portage Avenue
Elwood Avenue from Portage Avenue to Olive Street
Riverside Drive from Angela Boulevard to California Avenue
Your consideration of this appropriation is requested. Should you have
